When you're away from home, you don't want to miss anything with a baby! And often, these first holidays with baby can be (slightly) stressful: we are afraid of forgetting the essentials, we ask ourselves a lot of questions... To avoid this small wave of stress, the watchword is OR-GA -NI-SA-TION. Don't leave it at the last minute!
Our advice for a peaceful vacation with a baby:
Tip #1: Prepare your things in advance
Why prepare baby's things in advance? Already because you must have seen it, since you became a mother, you are cruelly lacking time. The earlier you start, the fewer things you will forget and the less stressed you will be. No more going on vacation on a whim with just your backpack... that was before!
Tip #2: Make lists so you don’t forget anything.
What to take on vacation with baby? Everything will depend on the season, destination and duration of your trip. Adapt these outfits and accessories according to these points and your needs.
Daily essentials
If you have a whole bunch of accessories at home to meet your needs and those of your baby, it will be the same during your getaways. Sometimes it seems so obvious to us that we don't even think about it, and then... that's the tragedy! Don't forget these daily essentials:
- Clothes depending on the season
- layers depending on the number of days
- Hygiene products (cotton, cream, liniment)
- Nipple
- Feeding bottle
- Milk (powder) + demineralized water
- Her toiletry bag
- Night light
- Small pots
- Your Elvie breastfeeding kit
- Some toys/books
- Doudou (how can we forget that one?)
The diaper bag
Like any self-respecting parent, as soon as there is an outing, we think about taking our diaper bag with your usual ones inside:
- Spare
- Travel changing mat
- Bibs
- A snack
- Seasonal accessories: beanie or hat/sunglasses/mist
- Layers
- Wipes
- Feeding bottle
- Bottle of water
The first aid kit
Prevention is better than cure ! And I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I have the impression that it's always on vacation that children get sick. So now, I'm equipping myself and I'm thinking of taking a first aid kit or what we call the "boo kit":
Here are my basics:
- Doliprane
- Dressings
- Baby Fly
- Thermometer
- Physiological serum
- Mosquito repellent bracelet
- Sun cream suitable for babies
- Disinfectant
Leopard toiletry bag, Milinane
You will have understood, with a baby it is difficult to travel light. All these little things will take up a lot of space and baby also has the right to his own suitcase. Depending on the length of your trip, prefer a small suitcase or a weekend bag , which will be perfect for a few days' getaway with the family.
Health and administration
And yes, even if you are so young, to travel, it is important that you have your identity card and/or passport. Please note that a passport is required for travel outside the EU, even if your baby is only a few days old!
For a trip to Europe with a baby, apply for the European Health Insurance Card. Make the request in a few seconds on your ameli.fr space and receive it within a few days. This card ensures reimbursement of part of the care provided in Europe.
Important: always have your pretty health record with you up to date. Follow-up can be carried out if necessary.
In all cases, whether traveling in France or across the border, always consult your pediatrician before departure. He will surely do a complete check-up and check the vaccinations to be done.
Tips No. 3: find out about your accommodation
When renting or staying at a hotel, please always ask about the accessories available for children: high chair, adapted bathtub, travel cot, etc. This may save you from having to transport them and, above all, avoid unpleasant surprises and panic!
PS: most of these tips are also valid for you and your own business ;)
You are now ready for great family adventures! It's still a vacation, so we follow these tips and above all we relax!
