Ah, pregnancy in summer! It's like trying to wear a spacesuit in the middle of the desert, isn't it?
High temperatures, hot sun and humidity can make pregnancy more difficult to bear. But don't worry, my fellow moms-to-be, I'm here to give you tips to help you enjoy your pregnancy this summer:
1. Water will be your best ally
During these few weeks in the heat, drinking enough water is crucial for you and your little baby growing inside you. It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water during the day and even more if you are active or spend a lot of time outdoors. If you're like me and often forget to drink enough, I suggest putting post-it notes around your house to remind you to drink water. And if that doesn't work, there are apps that will send you reminders to drink water. Yes, there are apps for everything!
2. Your outfit must be ultra comfortable
You can say goodbye to tight pants and tight clothes. Wear clothes in which you are comfortable: rather light and loose so that you can move freely without feeling crushed. Natural fabrics like cotton, silk and linen are ideal for summer, since they are light and allow your skin to breathe.
We also recommend the French brand Jolie Bump for eco-responsible, ultra-comfortable and very trendy maternity clothes.

PS: Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes too, because your feet can swell in summer. And even if you fall for “socks and slides”, we won’t blame you, we promise!
3. The sun should be avoided
Protect yourself from the sun: during this summer period, the sun can be very strong, and the heat creates greater fatigue. Avoid spending time outdoors during the hottest parts of the day, when the sun is strongest. Stay cool while you can, and take the opportunity to rest. Who can blame you for spending your day watching Netflix?? Others may say you're lazy, but we know you're doing what's best for your baby.
4. Eat healthy
At the same time, with everything that is forbidden to us, what do we have left?
Fresh fruits and vegetables are particularly important because they contain essential vitamins and minerals. Avoid processed foods and fast foods, which can be high in calories and saturated fat.
5. Exercise
Yes, it may seem counterintuitive but staying moving is important during pregnancy. We're not asking you to do a marathon, far from it! Gentle activities like walking, swimming, pilates and yoga are great for maintaining your physical and mental fitness.
Always seek the advice of your doctor or gynecologist before beginning these activities.
Last little tip for the road: to avoid last minute stress, remember to prepare everything well in advance to welcome baby with complete peace of mind. Think in particular of the maternity suitcase which we recommend preparing in the 6th month of pregnancy. Discover our article on how to prepare your maternity suitcase .
So we know, summer pregnancy can be difficult, but with a little forethought and care, you can have a pleasant and comfortable summer while keeping a smile on your face. Come on, just a few more days/weeks to go and you will soon have your little one in your arms!
