“Tips” for a good car trip with your kids!

MANAGE EVERYONE’S SUSCEPTIBILITIES

[Personal experience feedback from the last car trip]. I can clearly see my lover's face closing a little more as I hand my daughter her umpteenth (melted) chocolate cake, after the packet of chips. He restrains himself so as not to mention the ESSENTIAL detour to the car wash as soon as we arrive. My lover already has a hard time getting into “vacation mode”, he needs a few extra peaceful hours for the magic to work. So secretly, I'm crossing my fingers that my daughter sticks only to the plastic handles and seats with her fingers full of chocolate... And yes, we hit the road less than an hour ago and my little monster has already swallowed an illogical amount of food.

GIVE UP YOUR PRINCIPLES FOR A FEW KM

The great educational theories are simply no longer valid once a car trip of more than 30 kilometers is planned. We can in particular give up on a balanced diet and respect for biological rhythm. The notion of time is an improbable concept when we travel by car. For our little traveler, time seems to have simply stopped, and worry is felt every quarter of an hour with the traditional “Mom, when are we arriving??” ".
By car, a full day passes in 3 hours at most: the classic “lunch-nap-snack-game-meal” is completely covered while you still have 200 kilometers to go! But then how can we suggest that he start his night at only 1 p.m.??

THE KEYS TO AN IDEAL CAR TRIP

Without any pretension, and in the hope of generating other ideas from you, I share with you below the 5 very “Milinanian” points of a good car trip with our offspring:

  1. Plan a picnic (a real one) for 2 reasons: because it is always a festive event which takes up at least 15 minutes (hoping for more!) and once your stomach is full, it leads directly to a nap ( well theoretically…)
  2. Invest without hesitation in an “Electronic Toll” subscription because any shutdown and opening of a window can permanently disrupt your precious sleep. Persist in covering as many kilometers as possible while Morpheus works!*
  3. Have a reserve of food worthy of your annual stock of compotes, biscuits, chips and other "little edible dirt" which helps preserve the mood of our little ones (and sometimes, agree to make a departure from these dietary principles just to buy a little calm....[unworthy mother]).
  4. Be provided with at least one diaper lifesaving, which still helps us well after our child has spoken his first words! In this case, in the car it serves as an XXL bib, emergency sun visor, seat protection during an emergency change on the side of the road, and so on...
  5. Learn to hear without listening... to be able to endure 5 long hours during “Cococaline” and “Portovecchio” by Julien Doré! Even if at first we find the choice rather nice, the effect is the same as if you endure “Frozen” or “Gymbo” for 5 hours! Otherwise, head to the Media Library to stock up on musical tales to vary the pleasures!

And you ? What are your tips??
Good road !

Kisses

PS: When traveling in high heat, for the little ones; it is without hesitation the seat of cosi that you absolutely must have! Cotton muslin tempers and remains pleasant for baby's skin!
